Youku Embraces Young Creators, Empowering High-Quality Development of the Online Audiovisual Industry with Technology
From September 2nd to 3rd, 2024, the second Beijing Online Audiovisual Art Conference was grandly held in Beijing. As a leading online audiovisual platform in China, Zhang Lina, Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of Youku, shared Youku's philosophy and practice in exploring high-quality online audiovisual content creation and promoting the high-quality development of the industry at the conference. She emphasized Youku's determination to embrace young creators and provide a stage for young people.
Zhang Lina pointed out that the online audiovisual industry is not an easy feat and constantly faces challenges such as changing user habits, cross-border integration, technological iteration, and international competition. To meet these challenges, the key lies in believing in young people and providing them with a stage to showcase their talents. As a beneficiary of young talent, Youku firmly believes in the power of young people. Many of Youku's hit dramas are from emerging directors, such as Shen Ao, director of the suspense drama "New Life," Xu Hongyu, director of the adapted drama "The Supernatural," and Suan, director of "The River of Time." In the past five years, Youku has provided a platform for 294 screenwriters and 38 directors to debut, opening doors for them to success.
Faced with the wave of new technologies sweeping the globe, Youku is actively positioning itself for "lane-changing and overtaking." Zhang Lina emphasized that Youku is committed to research and development and upgrading of the film industry, through virtual shooting, digital humans, ultra-high-definition experiences, and "film production vehicles," continuously promoting the progress of digital film production. The upcoming costume drama "The Secret of the Qingming Shanghe Map" will reach new heights in the scale and effects of virtual shooting, offering viewers a more immersive audiovisual experience. At the same time, to celebrate the "10th Anniversary of the Grand Canal's Successful World Heritage Listing," Youku will launch the online cultural variety show "Shine! Grand Canal," using AI and other new technologies and perspectives to deliver the thousand-year-old story of Chinese culture in a dazzling way to young audiences.
Youku's practice demonstrates that embracing young creators and empowering the online audiovisual industry with technology are essential measures in promoting high-quality development of the industry. Youku will continue to adhere to the philosophy of "content is king, technology empowers," continuously providing users with high-quality online audiovisual content and contributing to the development of the industry.
