I didn't originally want to talk about Chinese semiconductors, but recent developments do give people a feeling of discomfort.
The leading semiconductor enterprise in China is SMIC International, which accounts for half of China's semiconductor market and is the only manufacturer of high process chips.
Recently, SMIC International announced two pieces of news, which sparked a wave of heated discussions in the semiconductor industry.
The first is to no longer disclose OEM quantities and revenue data in the form of each chip manufacturing process.
Why? No need, because no matter what SMIC International does, it may not be able to escape the technological hegemony of the United States. So, it's better to develop in a low-key manner and work steadfastly.
Anyway, the current situation no longer requires the use of advanced and cutting-edge patents from the United States. It's better to abandon these and work steadily and step by step.
The second is to temporarily cancel chip orders for the 14 nanometer process.
SMIC will no longer produce high process chips. This operation is puzzling to many people. After all, it is developing towards high process, which represents high technology.
Actually, this is a misconception, because these high process chips are mostly within the range of mobile phone chips, whether they are 14 nanometers, 7 nanometers, or even 5 nanometers and 3 nanometers, all of which are mobile phone chips without exception.
Even smart watches and drones do not require such high-end chips.
Due to the technology blockade imposed by the United States on China, Huawei was cut off, causing a change in the global mobile phone market landscape and relegating Huawei's ranking as a global mobile phone giant to another.
The pain is certain, but by no means permanent. Huawei's stunning product Kirin chip design is already world-class, and the only thing lacking is chip manufacturing capabilities. This is indeed Huawei's weakness, and even China's weakness.
However, the benefits of revoking the 14 nanometer process are also visible to the naked eye, as chips above 28 nanometers are not only technologically mature but also widely used. 28 nanometers are sufficient to support iterations in materials, equipment, manufacturing, software, design, and automotive applications.
So, before the development of high process lithography machines was successful, it was not yet down-to-earth to improve enterprise efficiency and occupy the application market. In this way, not only did it solve the financial problem, but it also occupied the main market. Why not?
It is said that no country in the world can produce a pure high-tech product called high process lithography machines, not the United States, not the Netherlands, and not even Japan.
So those keyboardists who say that China cannot even make lithography machines can take a break. This is not the sole responsibility of the Chinese family.
There are too many keyboard warriors in China, just like crucian carp crossing the river. What is lacking is the dignity and backbone of the nation.
Fortunately, what China lacks the most is a resilient personality and an indomitable scientific research spirit.
We must refute this statement with the power of a single country. We must manufacture lithography machines with the capabilities of a single Chinese company, starting from a low manufacturing process, achieving excellence first and then precision.
At present, many key components have been successfully developed, and other parts are also under intense research and development. I believe that with time, China will definitely be able to take off this almost technological crown and independently complete this research project.
Just like the Beidou, like a spaceship, like a big plane
Believe in China, believe in Made in China!
