These are the experimental conditions that can be provided by the comprehensive extreme conditions experimental device built by the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Huairou Science City.

The so-called extreme conditions refer to the conditions artificially created in the laboratory that reach or approach the current technological limits. The above set of conditions means that the device can provide extremely low temperatures several thousand times lower than the background radiation temperature of the universe, ultra-high pressures close to the Earth's core pressure, strong magnetic fields several hundred thousand times higher than the Earth's magnetic field, and a "high-speed camera" that can capture images of tens of billions of billionths of a second.

In 2003, the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences established a working group to plan the construction of a comprehensive extreme condition experimental device. Four years later, Lv Li came to Huairou for the first time to participate in the site selection of the device

In 2017, the construction of a comprehensive extreme condition experimental device was officially launched. This is the first national major scientific and technological infrastructure to start construction in Huairou Science City, and also the first major scientific and technological facility to enter a scientific research state. Compared with other major scientific facilities, its biggest feature is comprehensiveness and clustering. Each extreme condition is not independent, but rather a "strong alliance" that helps researchers conduct comprehensive and systematic research.

The process of building large scientific facilities is also a process of overcoming difficulties.Lv Li mentioned that some instruments are difficult to purchase, and researchers start from scratch and independently develop them. On December 20, 2022, the comprehensive extreme condition experimental device entered the trial operation stage, and all 20 platforms were open to domestic and foreign users for appointment. For the first time, scientists can conduct experiments at their doorstep, and it's hard to hide their excitement. When the first batch of 5 experimental stations that passed the performance and process testing opened regular project reservation applications, 57 applications were received, including frontline research teams from 36 domestic and foreign research institutes, universities, and high-tech enterprises.
