On May 25th, Apple released a list of suppliers for the 2022 fiscal year. There were a total of 186 companies, with 94 Chinese manufacturers. 10 new manufacturers entered Apple's supply chain, but 13 companies were also kicked out by Apple.
Apple's supply chain is known as the fruit chain, and joining the fruit chain is often one of the indicators of success for many electronic companies. The consequences of being kicked out of the fruit chain by Apple are often disastrous, as Apple typically contributes higher revenue.
The domestic panel manufacturer Tianma Microelectronics was kicked out of the supply chain this time. It was previously exposed that they were supplying OLED panels to Apple's MacBook Pro TouchBar, but their absence from the list means that future collaborations have also disappeared.
In response to this matter, the securities department staff of Tianma Microelectronics also responded, stating that the company has always maintained close cooperation with mainstream brand manufacturers in the display industry, but specific customers and developments involving trade secrets are not disclosed.
For being kicked out of the fruit chain, he said that the market information should be confirmed with downstream manufacturers.
According to data released by DSCC recently, in the first quarter of 2023, Tianma Microelectronics shipped approximately 8.4 million flexible OLED panels for smartphones, a year-on-year increase of several times, making it the second largest smartphone flexible OLED panel manufacturer in China.
