On June 12th, the official website of the Beijing Municipal Market Regulation Bureau announced that the Beijing electric bicycle group standard "Technical Specification for Lithium ion Power Battery Pack for Electric Bicycles" was recently revised and will be officially implemented on June 19th. The original group standard will also be abolished. The standard was jointly revised by the Beijing Bicycle and Electric Vehicle Industry Association, China Institute of Electronic Technology Standardization, Beijing Institute of Product Quality Supervision and Inspection, and other institutions and industry enterprises. A total of 19 new items were added and 20 related technical requirements were supplemented and improved.
It is reported that the newly revised group standard highlights the safety of products even more. Based on the quality and safety management practice of electric bicycles in Beijing, it is the first time to propose collaborative recognition between battery packs and the entire vehicle, as well as requirements for battery (individual) identification, acupuncture, thermal abuse, over discharge, and external short circuit. It also takes the lead in applying collaborative recognition between battery packs and charging devices, as well as battery pack over temperature alarm functions, increasing the strength of battery pack handles For safety projects such as salt spray, the group standard also specifically specifies the functions of the battery pack management system, and refines testing methods such as BMS data upload function and free drop.
It is worth mentioning that the newly revised group standard also adds a battery pack over temperature alarm function, requiring that when the internal temperature of the battery pack or the temperature of a certain battery reaches 80 degrees, the vehicle or battery pack should emit an alarm sound within 30 seconds, which has positive significance for the safe use of electric bicycle users. The newly revised group standards also increase the stability performance requirements for batteries (monomers), improve the safety performance indicators of lithium battery packs, and effectively prevent the risk of lithium battery fires and explosions.
The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Market Regulation stated that after the implementation of the newly revised group standards, new safety related technical indicators such as the over temperature alarm function of the Battery Pack Management System (BMS), the mutual recognition and coordination function between the battery pack and the vehicle, the battery (monomer) needle and the strength of the battery pack handle will be included in the electric bicycle product catalog, which will further improve the safety of lithium-ion batteries used for electric bicycles sold in this city.
