The the Himalayas is the highest mountain range in the world and one of the most difficult regions to explore on the earth.

However, Chinese scientists have discovered a potential rare earth deposit here, with a length of 1000 kilometers, which may be the world's largest rare earth reserve.

Rare earth elements are important industrial materials widely used in fields such as electronics, communication, aviation, and military, and are of great significance for China's economic and national defense development.

This amazing discovery was announced by a research team of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in June 2023. They used artificial intelligence technology to conduct large-scale data analysis on rocks, soil, water flow, etc. in the the Himalayas, identify areas that may contain rare earth elements, and conduct field exploration.

They found that in the middle of the the Himalayas, from Tibet to Nepal, there is a rare earth ore belt about 1000 kilometers long and 10 kilometers wide, which contains 17 kinds of rare earth elements, some of which are the most scarce and valuable in the market at present.

This discovery has attracted widespread attention from the international community, as China is already the world's largest producer and exporter of rare earths, accounting for over 90% of the global market share.

If China can develop and utilize this newly discovered rare earth mineral deposit, it will further consolidate its dominant position in the global rare earth market and have a significant impact on its competitiveness in the fields of technology and military.

However, it is not easy to develop rare earth mineral deposits in the the Himalayas, because the terrain here is complex, the climate is harsh, and the ecology is fragile, which requires a lot of human, material and financial resources.

In addition, this region also involves border disputes and geopolitical issues between China and neighboring countries such as India and Nepal, which may trigger external interference and opposition.

Therefore, Chinese scientists have stated that they will continue to use artificial intelligence technology to conduct more in-depth and accurate exploration and evaluation of this rare earth ore belt, and coordinate and cooperate with relevant departments and institutions to develop feasible and sustainable development plans.
