On October 16th, the poster news reporter learned that the construction of Huawei Qingpu R&D Center has entered its final stage. The R&D center has a total investment of over 10 billion yuan and is expected to be delivered in June 2024. By then, 35000 technology R&D talents will be introduced. The park covers an area of 2400 acres and has a "small train" built inside to help employees commute.

In September 2020, the Huawei Qingpu R&D Center project officially began construction. The entire project has a maximum east-west length of 2.4 kilometers and a north-south length of approximately 900 meters, with a total construction area of approximately 2.2 million square meters, including approximately 1.1 million square meters of above ground and underground construction areas. At present, there are over a hundred buildings in the entire research and development center, most of which are three to five story research and development buildings, as well as a small number of buildings with seven or more floors.

Huawei Qingpu R&D Center is located in the eastern area of Xicen Science and Technology Innovation Center, with a total land area of about 2400 acres and a total construction area of about 2 million square meters. The R&D center is located in the pilot area of the Yangtze River Delta Integration Demonstration Zone and is one of the important projects in Huawei's global strategic layout. The total planned investment of the project is over 10 billion yuan, mainly used for scientific research, office and supporting facilities, such as research and development office buildings, laboratories, conference halls, canteens, data centers, and ancillary facilities.

After the project is delivered, it is expected to attract 35000 technology R&D talents, with a focus on R&D, design, and sales in fields such as 5G terminal chips, wireless networks, and the Internet of Things. It is reported that the first batch of talents will be introduced by the end of next year, with approximately 10000 people, mainly including employees from Huawei R&D centers in other regions and newly recruited technology R&D talents.

At present, the main structure of the park has been fully capped, and the decoration of the external curtain wall has come to an end. The next stage will be a comprehensive and refined decoration, and it is expected to be delivered next year. Also to be delivered next year is the Xicen Single Apartment, which can provide approximately 6200 units of housing. On the other hand, the Huawei Talent Apartment in the Zhujiajiao area covers an area of approximately 470 acres and will provide approximately 5300 housing units for experts to live in.

After the entire park is delivered, it will be interconnected through a small train. The small train has a total of 8 stations, with a running length of approximately 4.5 kilometers, and the entire journey takes about 15 minutes. It is reported that the small train is built internally by Huawei and will become the main means of transportation for employees to commute to and from work.

The Xicen Science and Technology Innovation Center is located in Jinze Town, Qingpu District, and is located on the development axis of the Shanghai Lake region in the demonstration area. It is 38 kilometers east of the Hongqiao hub, 4 kilometers west of the Shuixiang living room, north of the G50 Yangtze River Delta digital trunk line, subway line 17 (under construction Xicen Station), Shanghai Suzhou Jia intercity line, and south of the Beiheng Port Blue Pearl Chain. The project is connected to ports and forests, and the water town has superior green natural resources.

The total area of the Science and Technology Innovation Center is approximately 409 hectares, divided into two areas: east and west. The eastern area is Huawei Qingpu R&D Center, while the western area is the Xicen Science and Technology Innovation Park, which the company is responsible for overall development. It covers an area of approximately 226 hectares and has a total construction area of approximately 2.76 million square meters.

The Xicen Science and Technology Innovation Center is the leading start-up area of the Yangtze River Delta Integration Demonstration Zone, known as the "One Hall, Three Areas" and the "One Area" in Qingpu. It is an important carrier for Shanghai to implement the national strategy of Yangtze River Delta integration and build a globally influential science and technology innovation center. With the goal of becoming a "world-class science and technology innovation town", two provinces and one city are committed to creating a carbon neutrality practice zone for the future, a science and technology innovation highland gathering top global talents, and a model of Jiangnan as a world waterfront town.
