Be wary of using new AI technologies to commit fraud
Currently, the widespread application of AI technology provides personalized and intelligent information services for the public, and also brings opportunities for online fraud. For example, criminals use facial replacement, voice synthesis, and other methods to create false images, audio, and videos, impersonate others' identities, and commit fraud, infringing on the legitimate rights and interests of consumers.State Administration of Financial Supervision and Administration
There are two main methods of using AI new technology to implement fraud: "onomatopoeia" and "face changing", that is, by simulating the voice or image of others to gain trust and then defraud money. Illegal individuals usually use excuses such as "online store customer service", "marketing promotion", "recruitment of part-time jobs", and "dating" to contact consumers through WeChat, QQ, phone, and other means, collecting pronunciation, sentence, or facial information. Using techniques such as "onomatopoeia" and "face changing" to synthesize consumers' fake audio, video, and images, using excuses such as borrowing money, investing, and emergency assistance to induce their relatives and friends to transfer funds or provide sensitive information such as bank account passwords, and then immediately transfer funds. In addition, criminals may also artificially synthesize audio and video recordings of celebrities, experts, officials, and other individuals, using their identities to spread false information, thereby achieving fraudulent purposes.
State Administration of Financial Supervision and Administration:
A major feature of synthetic technologies such as "onomatopoeia" and "face changing" is that "fake is confused with real". Illegal individuals can easily disguise themselves as others using such technologies, and accurately carry out fraud by quickly screening the target audience and customizing fraud scripts. Therefore, when it comes to financial transactions, a "very familiar phone call" or a "seemingly familiar video" can all be scams by criminals, and consumers should be vigilant.
In the face of self proclaimed "acquaintances" and "leaders" using social media, phone calls, and other reasons to induce remittances, it is necessary to verify the identity of the other party. If you can ask questions that are only known to both parties during the communication process, you can also use other communication methods or face-to-face verification, or verify your identity and situation with the other party's friends and family. When the other party's identity cannot be confirmed, transfer operations should be avoided as much as possible.
Consumers should increase their awareness of personal information protection, refrain from downloading unfamiliar software, registering unfamiliar platforms, or adding unfamiliar friends at will, and remain vigilant about the security status of their personal social accounts. Try to avoid excessive exposure of personal photos, sounds, videos, and other information on the internet, and do not seek convenience by storing ID cards, bank card photos, etc. directly on your phone. If you are deceived or encounter suspicious situations, you should pay attention to preserving the evidence and immediately report the case to the local public security organs.
