This article introduces how to use Kepware software to simulate OPCAEServer configuration. The relevant software can be downloaded from Wangxinzhihui (wangxinzhihui. com).

1. Create 1 data source: This case uses "Graybox. Simulator. 1" as the data source. Connect to the OPCServer data source 'Graybox. Simulator. 1'.

Right click on "Connectivity" and select "New Channel" from the pop-up menu

Select the channel type as' OPCDAClient '.

Enter the channel name as' Graybox '.

Select OPCServer "Graybox. Simulator. 1" and the channel creation is complete.

Add device: Enter the device name.

Create Group: Enter a group name.

Right click on "Add Tag" and a dialog box will pop up, where you can enter the tag name.

2. Create OPCAEServer.

2.1 Create Area: Right click on the project tree "Alarm&Events", select "New Area", and enter the area name.

2.2 Create Data Source: Right click on the area, select "NewSource", and the parameter interface will pop up.

Select the relevant label.

UpdateRate: This parameter specifies the fastest rate at which the source obtains data updates from OPC server tags. The range is 100-60000 milliseconds. The default setting is 1000 milliseconds.

2.3 Create conditions/sub conditions:

Condition: Select a condition type

Debandtype: This parameter specifies the deadband type. There are three options: 'None', 'Absolute', and 'Percentage'. The default setting is' None '. The explanation is as follows:

  1. None: No dead band value
  2. AbsoluteIf the difference between two consecutive data updates from the source is greater than the amount specified in the "Value" field, the update is valid and may generate an event. Otherwise, the update will be ignored.
  3. Percentage:

Deband: This parameter specifies the dead band value. Supports any positive number. If the 'Deadband Type' is set to 'None', this parameter will be grayed out. The default value is 0.

Range:This parameter specifies the upper and lower limits of the deadband percentage. Supports all real numbers, but the first number must be less than the second number. This parameter can only be accessed when the 'Deadband Type' is set to 'Percentage'.

2.4 Configure "General Sub Conditions": Configure common settings such as messages, descriptions, and severity.

DescriptionDescription of the purpose of the sub condition. When the OPCAE client queries the status of a certain condition, it will send this description to them. The maximum length is 1024.

SeverityThe user-defined severity of the sub condition. The higher the number, the more serious the situation becomes. The range is 1-1000. The default setting is 1. Some OPCAE clients use this value to explain the threat presented by the alert. It does not affect the fixed priority of the sub conditions defined by the alarm and event plugins. Please refer to the table below for the severity range.

Auto KnowledgeThis parameter automatically confirms the conversion to this sub condition. The sub condition transformation can be confirmed by the server or OPCAE client.

In ToThe string sent to the OPCAE client when the condition is converted to the selected sub condition. The maximum character length is 1024.

Out OfThe string sent to the OPCAE client when the condition is converted to the selected sub condition. The maximum character length is 1024.

ACKThe string sent to the OPCAE client when confirming the conversion of the condition to this sub condition. The maximum character length is 1024.

2.5 Configure "Sub condition Trigger": Set parameters such as sub condition values, rate of change, and deviation. The sub condition compares the source with the threshold. The threshold can be a static value or a dynamic value (such as an OPC server label). If the criteria defined for comparison are met, the sub condition becomes active.

Value/Tag:This parameter specifies whether the threshold is a numerical value or a label. The default setting is' Value '.

ComparisonThis parameter is a comparison between the source and threshold. The default setting is>.

Threshold:Threshold, which can beAvalue, tag, level, rate, oramount which somethingcomes into effectStatic value or label. If the threshold is a label, any OPC server label is available except for array labels and complex labels, as shown in the following figure.

UpdateRate: This parameter specifies the update rate of the label. This is the fastest rate of receiving updates from tags.

Deband: The relevant parameters are the same as 2.3, except that this is for the specified label.

3. Use the OPCAETestClient tool to test KepwareOPCAEServer. Please refer to "Communication Software 012- Minute Learning OPCAETestClient" for details.

Through this case study, one can gain a preliminary understanding of KepwareOPCAEServer configuration and the basic knowledge of OPCAE. Through extension, richer functions can be developed. For more communication resources, please log in to Wangxinzhihui (wangxinzhihui. com).
