According to a report by the Financial Times on the 11th, the blog "Kolada Data" operated by some scholars first questioned Gino's paper last month, believing that the data cited in it may have been tampered with. The Chronicle of Higher Education in the United States followed up on this matter, exposing Gino's scandal.
Gino was previously regarded as an expert on dishonest behavior. Over the past decade, Gino has collaborated with nearly 150 scholars to publish Behavioural sciences papers. Currently, many scholars are reassessing their joint research. The New York Times reported at the end of June that Gino's 2012 study involved people's behavioral habits in tax reporting, which was later "cited hundreds of times" by other scholars.
The Financial Times reported that two papers published by Gino in the journal Psychology in 2014 and 2015, titled "Evil Genius? How Dishonest Behavior Triggers Greater Creativity" and "The Moral Virtue of Sincerity: How Non Sincerity Makes People Feel Unethical and impure," were withdrawn last week at the suggestion of the Research Integrity Office at Harvard University School of Business. Psychology said in its withdrawal statement that the original data of the two papers were inconsistent with the published data.
The Journal of Personality and Social psychology sponsored by the American Psychological Workers Association is scheduled to issue a withdrawal statement in September, withdrawing a paper published by Gino in 2020. The American Association of Psychologists stated that they withdrew their papers at the request of Harvard University, which currently appears to be an "isolated event". If other papers have reasons for withdrawal, "appropriate steps will be taken". Another paper that was questioned by the "Kolada data" has been withdrawn.
According to reports, Gino's resume at Harvard Business School has recently changed, indicating that she is on vacation. (Ocean)
