On July 25, it was identified that the 52 eggs to be hatched that Xiamen Airport Customs had seized in the baggage of inbound passengers were Mallard eggs, which was the first time the customs had seized such cases.
When Xiamen Airport Customs supervised an inbound flight, it found that three foam boxes carried by two undeclared passengers were abnormal. After the customs officer opened the foam box, a peculiar smell came to his face. Upon inspection, customs officers found a large number of stacked white eggs in the foam box, many of which were in the half hatching state of Zygote, and could clearly see the eyes and blood vessels. Some damaged egg liquid had deteriorated. It was identified as Mallard eggs by Xiamen Customs Technical Center.
It is reported that Mallard, also known as wild duck, is a bird of the genus Anatidae of the Anseriformes, and is kept as a pet by some "heterophiles" lovers because of its shiny feathers, cute body shape, and docile temperament.
The customs reminds that, according to the Biosafety Law, the Law on Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine and its implementation regulations and other laws and regulations, it is not allowed to introduce Introduced species without approval, and it is prohibited to carry, send and deliver live animals and plants into the country. If the regulations are violated, the customs will investigate legal responsibility in accordance with the law.
