When it comes to this Huawei phone, we have to think of the Kirin chip. When it comes to the Kirin chip, we have to mention the Kirin 9000 series, because the processor in this series is currently the best performing chip among the Kirin chips and also the last high-end chip in the Kirin chip series
When it comes to this Huawei phone, we have to think of the Kirin chip. When it comes to the Kirin chip, we have to mention the Kirin 9000 series, because the processor in this series is currently the best performing chip among the Kirin chips and also the last high-end chip in the Kirin chip series. But many people may not yet know that there are several versions of this Kirin 9000 series chip. Guys, come and see which one your phone is using.
Many people only know about the Huawei Kirin 9000 processor, but there are actually three versions of the Huawei Kirin 9000, namely the Kirin 9000, Kirin 9000E, and Kirin 9000L. Next, I will explain in detail the differences between these three versions:
The first Kirin 9000
The Qilin 9000 is a 5-nanometer 8-core processor released by Huawei HiSilicon in October 2020. It adopts a design of one large core, three medium cores, and four small cores. The main frequency of the large core is 3.13GHz, the main frequency of the medium core is 2.54GHz, and the main frequency of the small core is 2.04GHz. The integrated transistor is up to 15.3 billion, and the GPU is a 24-core Mali-G78. The NPU adopts a one micro core and dual large core solution. Mainly used on Mate40Pro, Mate40Pro+, and Porsche Mate40RS.
The second Kirin 9000E
The Kirin 9000E was released together with the Kirin 9000, which is also a 5-nanometer 8-core processor. It also adopts a large core, three middle cores, and four small cores design, with the same main frequency as the Kirin 9000. The only difference is that the number of GPU and NPU cores is different. The Kirin 9000 is a 24 core Mali-G78, while the Kirin 9000E is a 22 core Mali-G78. It has 2 GPU cores less than the Kirin 9000. Additionally, the Kirin 9000 has a single microkernel and dual macrokernel NPU, while the Kirin 9000L only has one macrokernel and one minor kernel NPU, which is one macrokernel NPU less. Mainly used on the Mate40 standard version.
The third Kirin 9000L
The Kirin 9000L is a chip installed by Huawei on the Mate40EPro in 2022, which is significantly different from the previous two models. Firstly, its number of cores has changed to 6, and it adopts a large core, 2-core, and 3-small core solution. The main frequency of the large core is 3.13GHz, the main frequency of the medium core is 2.54GHz, and the main frequency of the small core is 2.05GHz. The GPU part adopts the same 22-core Mali-G78 as the Kirin 9000E, and the NPU part is also a large core and a micro core, In other words, this Kirin 9000L is the castrated version of Kirin 9000E. Compared to the Kirin 9000, it has two fewer physical cores, two fewer GPUs, and one less NPU.
After reading this detailed parameter, everyone should know their gap, right,To be precise, the Kirin 9000 has the best performance among the three models, followed by the Kirin 9000E, and the Kirin 9000L has the worst performance. However, in practical use, the difference between the Kirin 9000 and the Kirin 9000E is not very obvious. However, the difference between the Kirin 9000 and the Kirin 9000L is somewhat large, especially in multitasking situations where two physical cores are missing. The Kirin 9000L is significantly slower than the Kirin 9000, but fortunately, several processors are still relatively smooth to use under the optimization of the Hongmeng system. If you want to compare the Kirin 9000 and Kirin 9000E with Qualcomm processors, they are almost on par with Snapdragon 888, while the Kirin 9000L and Snapdragon 870 are similar.
However, everyone should understand that although the Kirin 9000 series was once a very good processor, due to its release time being several generations behind Snapdragon and Apple, they are already far behind the latest Apple A16 and Snapdragon 8gen2 flagship chips. Many friends are still unwilling to admit this gap. Take Kirin's best Kirin 9000 as an example. Their latest running point in Antu Tu is around 750000, but the Snapdragon 8gen2 has a high running point of 1.3 million, especially since this GPU section almost completely surpasses the Kirin 9000. Therefore, let's face reality. However, it is rumored that Huawei's Mate60 series may launch the Kirin 9100 processor. If it is true, then the mobile chip market will change again.
