Why are more and more KTV stores closing? Doesn't everyone like singing anymore

In recent years, the KTV industry seems to be experiencing a cold winter. According to data from iQiCha, most of the nearly 68000 karaoke companies in China are in the state of cancellation or dissolution, with only 26917 remaining in actual operation, which is less than half of the total. This phenomenon raises a question: do people still choose to go to KTV to relax during their breaks?
Regarding this, some media have conducted some investigations and found that the reasons behind the KTV store closure trend are related to various factors.
Firstly, the change in consumer attitudes is one of the main reasons. Compared to traditional KTV, young people nowadays tend to choose online music platforms such as NetEase Cloud and QQ Music for entertainment, or choose leisure methods such as internet cafes and cinemas. In addition, the popularity of home KTV devices has also enabled people to enjoy the fun of singing at home without having to go out of the house again.
Secondly, the increase in operating costs has also made KTV operations more difficult. With the continuous increase in expenses such as rent, labor, and copyright fees, KTV's profit margin is gradually shrinking. The impact of the epidemic has dealt a greater blow to the already unbearable KTV industry. According to the investigation, during the epidemic, many KTVs accumulated a large amount of fixed costs due to their inability to operate normally, resulting in heavy debt and ultimately had to choose to close.
On the other hand, with the increasing demands of consumers on the environment and service quality, the traditional KTV model is no longer able to meet their needs. People place more emphasis on personalization and comfort, while traditional KTV environments, facilities, and services often struggle to meet standards.
However, despite the many difficulties faced by the KTV industry, not all KTVs are on the decline. Some cleverly transformed and user experience oriented KTVs are gradually emerging. For example, some KTVs have started offering additional services such as snacks, drinks, and even board games to attract more consumers. Some KTVs have won the favor of consumers by upgrading their hardware facilities to provide better audio quality and a comfortable environment.
Overall, although the KTV industry is undergoing a transformation, people's love for singing has not diminished. It's just that consumer demand is changing, and KTV needs to find new ways to adapt to this change.
