Samsung SDI Sells Polarizer Film Business to China's Wuxi Hengxin Optoelectronic Materials to Enhance Competitiveness
Samsung SDI, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, announced that it has sold its polarizer film business to Wuxi Hengxin Optoelectronic Materials Co., Ltd. in China. The move aims to further enhance the overall competitiveness of Samsung SDI's electronic materials division. The transaction is reportedly worth 1.121 trillion Korean won (approximately 5.951 billion yuan). Both parties signed the transaction agreement today and plan to complete the transaction after obtaining approval from relevant authorities and fulfilling other necessary procedures.
According to the agreement, Samsung SDI will transfer all assets, technologies, and customer resources related to its polarizer film business to Wuxi Hengxin Optoelectronic Materials. Polarizer film is one of the key materials used in display panel manufacturing and is widely used in various electronic products such as televisions, monitors, and mobile devices.
Samsung SDI stated that through this sale, the company will be able to further optimize resource allocation, focusing its efforts on businesses with higher growth potential, thereby enhancing overall competitiveness. At the same time, the cooperation with Wuxi Hengxin Optoelectronic Materials will lay the foundation for possible further collaboration between the two parties in the future.
Industry insiders believe that Wuxi Hengxin Optoelectronic Materials, a company with extensive experience in the optoelectronic materials field, will significantly enhance its technical capabilities and market share by acquiring Samsung SDI's polarizer film business. The company stated that it will fully leverage Samsung SDI's technological accumulation and brand advantages in the polarizer film field to further improve product quality and service levels, providing global customers with better products and solutions.
However, this transaction still requires approval from relevant regulatory authorities and other necessary legal procedures. Both parties stated that they will actively cooperate to ensure the smooth progress of the transaction and look forward to formally completing the handover in the near future.
