Zheng Nannong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of the Chinese Automation Society, stated at the 2024 China Automation Conference, suggesting that by ingeniously combining AI technology with external environmental changes, a novel embodied intelligence can be constructed to target specific tasks.
As a cutting-edge direction in the field of AI, embodied intelligence centers around intelligent agents engaging in deep interaction with physical environments through perception, cognition, and action. Unlike traditional AI, which primarily relies on data and algorithms, embodied intelligence emphasizes the interaction between intelligent agents and environments, continually learning and optimizing its behaviors through feedback mechanisms. This enables embodied intelligence to adapt to complex environmental changes more flexibly and demonstrate enhanced problem-solving capabilities.
Zheng Nannong further points out that the development of embodied intelligence will usher in a new trend for future industrial software, namely embodied software. Traditional industrial software typically relies on predefined program frameworks, lacking flexibility and adaptability. Embodied software, however, can make autonomous decisions and act flexibly based on environmental changes, even understanding and responding to human intentions and behavioral motivations. This will significantly enhance the intelligence level of automated systems and introduce a novel direction for industrial production.
