On January 13th, Handan City, Hebei Province, successfully completed a test flight of its first low-altitude unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) delivery route, marking a significant step forward in the city's smart logistics development. This successful test flight provides valuable experience and data support for the future development of low-altitude logistics transportation in Handan, and heralds a more efficient and convenient logistics transportation model.
The drone used in the test flight had a payload capacity of 30 kilograms and could accommodate cargo boxes of various sizes, meeting the transportation needs of different-sized goods. During the test flight, the drone flew steadily at a speed of 15 meters per second at an altitude of 120 to 150 meters, finally landing smoothly after 12 minutes, demonstrating its excellent flight performance and stability. This shows that low-altitude drone transportation technology is ready for practical application, offering a new option for urban logistics.
Two routes were opened during the test flight, with a total distance of approximately 20 kilometers, and each route took about 10 minutes to fly. One route connected the Jingdong and SF Express logistics parks in Hanshan District to the city's transportation building, while the other connected the transportation building to the Handan Postal Network Operation Center. The selection of these routes carefully considered Handan's main logistics nodes and transportation hubs, aimed at improving logistics efficiency, and laying the foundation for a more comprehensive low-altitude logistics network in the future.
It is noteworthy that each route had fixed starting and ending points, and the drone could automatically take off and land according to the preset route without manual intervention. This not only reduces the cost and risk of manual operation but also enhances the safety and reliability of transportation. The realization of automated operation is a significant indicator of the maturity of low-altitude drone transportation technology and reflects the transformative role of technological progress on traditional logistics models.
