In the perception of many consumers and mobile phone manufacturers, smartphones are no longer sellable. Observing the situation of the mobile phone market from last year to the present, it can be seen that the market share of both Apple and domestic first tier mobile phone manufacturers is declining, with a severe year-on-year decline.
In such a situation, mobile phone manufacturers are cutting capital expenditures and lowering shipping targets. However, Huawei has bucked the trend and raised its shipping target for this year from 37 million units to 40 million units. Foreign media have stated that Huawei's sky is already bright.
In recent years, the smartphone market has undergone continuous changes, especially in Huawei's smartphone business, which has experienced the divestment of its Honor sub brand, loss of Kirin chip OEM supply, and lack of 5G network support, resulting in Huawei's market share dropping from the top three globally to the top five and being included in the "Others" calculation list.
To this day, Huawei's mobile phone business has not fully recovered and continues to move forward with 4G networks.
Of course, other mobile phone manufacturers are also struggling, as consumers do not have much demand for purchasing new phones. The uniform design, expensive prices, and increasing durability of phones have led to prolonged replacement cycles for consumers.
According to IDC data, the top five mobile phone manufacturers in the Chinese market all experienced a year-on-year decline in the first quarter of this year. The top ranked OPPO experienced a year-on-year decline of 8.8%. Apple decreased by 7% year-on-year, vivo decreased by 14.9% year-on-year, Honor decreased by 22.8% year-on-year, and Xiaomi decreased by 22.9% year-on-year.
The market share of these five major mobile phone manufacturers is declining. If only one or two mobile phone manufacturers have a decline in market share, it can be understood as a difference in the strength of individual brands. But including Apple, the same phenomenon has emerged among top domestic mobile phone manufacturers, which only indicates that smartphones are no longer available for sale.
Mobile phone manufacturers are no longer as easy to make money as they used to be, so they have to tighten their belts, reduce capital expenditures, and lower shipping targets.
However, Huawei has become an exception. According to supply chain sources, Huawei has increased its mobile phone shipments this year from 37 million to 40 million, an increase of 8.11%.
Huawei is currently the only mobile phone manufacturer to increase its shipment volume. If it can achieve its target of 40 million units, Huawei is expected to have a market share in the top five this year.
Don't underestimate the shipping target of 40 million units. Not to mention how difficult it is for Huawei to go against the trend, it's not easy to regain market share from Apple and first tier phone manufacturers. Don't forget that Huawei's main mobile phone products are still 4G networks.
So the shipment volume of 40 million units is not a small target. It is not yet known why Huawei has raised its shipment target, but it can be confirmed that Huawei is ready for the future.
At Huawei's 2022 annual financial report meeting, Meng Wanzhou, Huawei's rotating chairman and chief financial officer, officially announced thatFacing the future, we have pressure and more confidence
At that time, many people ignored Meng Wanzhou's words and thought that they were just words. However, from Huawei's current actions, Meng Wanzhou really did what he said, and raised the target of 40 million mobile phone shipments. How confident should he be. Foreign media have stated that Huawei's smartphone business is improving as the sky has already brightened.
So where does Huawei's confidence come from? How can we achieve this goal? One of Huawei's sources of confidence may be foldable screens. Huawei is no longer a competitor to other manufacturers in the traditional smartphone field, and its shipment volume and market share are far inferior to theirs.
However, in the field of foldable screens, Huawei stands out from the crowd. Over the past three years, Huawei has had an annual market share of over 50%, capturing half of the foldable screen market. Some institutions predict that Huawei's shipment volume of foldable screen smartphones will reach 3 million units this year, just filling the gap of the growth target of 3 million units.
In addition to folding screens, Huawei also has a killer weapon, which is the Hongmeng system. Huawei's self-developed Hongmeng system has the characteristics of Internet of Things, and now major mobile phone manufacturers are promoting Internet of Things, such as Xiaomi's Miao Xiang Center. However, these functions are fundamentally different from Huawei's Hongmeng system, and the hardware adaptation level is far inferior to that of the Hongmeng ecosystem.
Hongmeng has supported thousands of different types of products, which can be applied in electrical products such as refrigerators, induction cookers, and air conditioners. Huawei is also vigorously laying out smart cars that support the Hongmeng system.
With Hongmeng in hand, more consumers will choose Huawei's mobile products and experience the life of Zhilian brought by Hongmeng.
To achieve Huawei's goal of shipping 40 million units, it is necessary to coordinate software and hardware products, ensure supply chain cooperation, strengthen the control of self-developed technology, and achieve perfection in all aspects, from suppliers to consumers, to sales channels.
Consumers are not unwilling to purchase new phones, but rather ordinary phones fail to arouse consumers' desire to purchase. Looking at the flagship iPhone released by Apple every year, it can cause a sales boom. As long as the product is done well enough to provide consumers with high-quality service guarantees, there will be consumers willing to pay for it.
I hope Huawei can achieve its target of 40 million units shipped this year, return to the top five in the market, and regain its glory.
