A 14-year-old boy is about to embark on his engineering journey and is working on the Star Chain team of SpaceX, a company owned by the top tier Musk in the global technology industry. According to several foreign media reports, this teenager named Kelan Guiz will graduate from the Santa Clara University on June 17, and officially enter SpaceX in July. After receiving the company's admission notice, Guiz posted on social media that he was very happy to become a software engineer on the Star Chain team and was pleased that SpaceX did not reject him due to his age.
In 2009, Guiz was born in Pleasanton, California, USA. According to data, Quez's parents are Bangladeshi Americans. His father was a Chemical engineer and his mother was a Wall Street executive. When Guiz was very young, he showed extraordinary talents. At the age of 2, Guiz is already able to utter complete sentences. According to the Los Angeles Times, Guys listens to the National Public Radio in kindergarten and tells the stories he hears to his teachers and classmates.
With the blessing of talent, Guiz's learning journey is significantly different from his peers. Not only does Guiz himself believe that 'ordinary' studies pose no challenge to him, but his teachers, pediatricians, and parents all believe that 'mainstream education is not the right way for him to accelerate learning'. So, at the age of 7, Quiz began learning programming; At the age of 9, Quez was sent to a local community university to study; At the age of 10, Quiz obtained an internship opportunity at Intel Labs to engage in research related to generative artificial intelligence. He once stated on social media that Intel's experience "changed his career trajectory"; At the age of 11, Quiz transferred to the Santa Clara University in the United States to begin systematic study of computer science and engineering. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Guiz said that it was in the university environment that "I think the content I learned meets my level."
According to the Guardian, Guiz, who is about to graduate from university, will become the youngest graduate in the history of the Santa Clara University. Like most graduates, Quez has also submitted hundreds of job applications, but nearly 95 have been rejected, receiving only three full-time job opportunities, with SpaceX being one of them. Being able to pass the SpaceX interview is undoubtedly the dream of many computer graduates. According to the USA Today, SpaceX's acceptance rate of applicants is about 0.2%. Quez is also excited about getting this job.
In "The Big Bang of Life", Sheldon, a 14-year-old physics genius who graduated from college, has a wooden personality and appears clumsy in most social activities. However, Guiz is different. He has a wide range of hobbies, enjoys discussing social and political topics, and also enjoys making friends. He usually relaxes by playing games. According to reports, Guiz attempted to learn Bengali and Chinese at the age of 9 in order to challenge himself.
In the eyes of most people, achieving such success at a young age deprives Guiz of many opportunities to enjoy his childhood. However, according to a report on American business insider websites, Guiz does not believe that his childhood has been excessively "encroached upon". Instead, he enjoys exploring challenging fields. Although not very old, Guiz already has relatively mature thinking about his career. He stated that his dream job should be challenging and innovative, and serve the public interest.
