China Solves International Difficulties in the Overall Formation of Rocket "Crown"
On October 13th, the 100th liquid filled deep drawing integrated box bottom produced by China Aerospace Science and Technology Group Corporation's No. 149 Factory marked an important breakthrough in the cooperation between Harbin Institute of Technology and China Aerospace Science and Technology Group Corporation's No. 149 Factory in the field of fluid pressure forming for the integrated box bottom of rocket fuel storage tanks.
The two sides have jointly created the first domestic 3-meter level bulk production line for carrier rockets. Compared to the first generation technology abroad, the independently developed fluid high-pressure forming second generation technology has significant advantages in terms of high quality, high reliability, and low cost.
The storage tank is the main structure of the rocket, accounting for 80% of the dry weight of the rocket structure.The bottom of the storage tank is an elliptical curved thin-walled structure, which bears complex loads such as internal pressure, axial pressure, vibration, and impact during service,It is the core key component that affects the overall reliability of rockets and is known as the "crown" of rockets.
The research team of Harbin Institute of Technology has put forward the theory of controlling the stress field of uniformly distributed fluid loading for sheet metal forming instability and wrinkling, which enables intangible liquids to understand the "instructions" and fundamentally solves the international problem of wrinkling in the overall forming of thin-walled structures.
The research team has successfully developed the world's largest sheet metal fluid high-pressure forming equipment, conquering more than 10 key process technologies,For the first time, ultra-thin sheet metal was used to produce a 3-meter-diameter rocket overall box bottom, which was successfully mass-produced, greatly improving the load-bearing capacity and reliability of the rocket structure, and achieving leapfrog development in key technologies of rocket structure manufacturing in China.
